Turley's Tips
Perennial and Shrub
Planting Instructions
1] When planting into your garden or another pot, it is very important to keep the root ball slightly above the new soil level. In other words do not place any new soil around the main stem of the plant as this can cause the stem to rot.
2] When planting into your garden dig a hole at least three times the size of the pot the plant is currently in. Add compost or a product like Sea Soil plus some Bone Meal to the soil you have removed from the hole. Place enough of this newly mixed soil into the hole and lightly compress it down. Be sure to add enough soil so that the top of the root ball will sit slightly above ground level. Fill around the plant's root ball with the remaining soil mix and again lightly compress it in place. Avoid disturbing the root ball during this process. The addition of compost will improve the water retention of the soil around the new plant. The addition of Bone Meal as a powder or as a liquid formulation will aid in the development of new roots.
3] When planting into a larger pot use a mixture of potting soil and a composted product such as Sea Soil at a rate of no more than one half compost. The use of straight compost can cause damage to the plant. Once again avoid planting the plant any deeper than the level it was at in the original pot.
4] The entire root ball of all Perennials and Shrubs need to be well watered until they have become established. This process could take up to 6 weeks.
5] If the plant after a short time appears to be in distress do not apply any fertilizer as this will only compound the stress the plant is experiencing. Once the plant is showing lots of new growth, we recommend applying an organic fertilizer such as Raingrow 4-2-3. To encourage flower development apply Raingrow's Bloomalong.
6] Consult the label for any preferred light and soil conditions.
